Molecular biology grade beads are cleaned with acidified water to remove fine particulates and contaminating trace materials, baked to destroy contaminating enzymes, and then packaged aseptically into sterile media bottles. Available in both silica (soda lime) and zirconium oxide in five sizes. Molecular biology grade beads are ready to use for homogenizing samples for molecular analysis. Silica beads are suitable for general grinding applications while zirconium beads have greater density and thus higher impact power.
